Festive Fifty

Despite the current spell of artic like weather the club is hoping to run its annual Festive Fifty on Monday 27th December. Hopefully the weather gods will be kind to us and we'll see a thaw which will allow us all to get out. Most cyclists must now be chomping at the bit to get a few miles in especially those of us who have been enduring the misery that is the dreaded turbo trainer. The forecast is to improve from Christmas Day onwards.

Sign on and start and finish are at the IWA buidlings, opposite St.Kierans College on College Road. Sign On will open at 10.30am and we hope to be on the road by 11.00am.

Cost is €10 and all proceeds will go to the IWA who have been very good to the club all year in allowing us the use of their facilities for a number of our events.

The route is a 50km route the same as last year which leaves Kilkenny, out the Carlow Road as far as Paulstown, onto Gowran, Dungarvan, refreshments in Thomastown, onto Bennettsbridge and back into Kilkenny where there will be hot drinks in the IWA and a raffle.

For those of you who haven't been doing a lot on the bike recently, don't worry this is a casual spin and we don't want to see any Winter World Champions flexing their muscles, plenty of time for that in the summer folks!

If there is any doubt about the weather for that day the club will send a text out to update everyone, unfortunately this will probably have to be a fairly late call. The last thing we will do is put peoples safety at risk.
